High School Baseball
Galesburg scored five runs in the first inning and continued to pour it on in a 23-4 rout of Peoria Woodruff. Zach McCrery led the Silver Streaks' offensive onslaught with two home runs, including a grand slam in the third inning, and Jake Taylor earned the win on the mound. Galesburg's record moves to 12-7 with the win.
United defeated Ridgewood 13-4
Monmouth-Roseville scored a run in the fifth inning to beat Farmington 1-0. The Titans' Tim Chick tossed a one-hitter and struck out nine to pick up the win. The Farmers' Brandon Atchley was the hard-luck loser. He surrendered five hits and struck out 13 over seven innings.
Galva-Williamsfield beat Mercer County 14-4
West Central plated six runs in the fifth inning to come from behind and beat Annawan-Wethersfield 7-4
West Prairie overcame a 2-0 deficit to down Lewistown 5-2
High School Softball
Rockridge no-hit ROWVA 9-0
United scored three runs in the first inning and went on to beat Ridgewood 8-0. Sommer Foster, Taylor Toops and Augusta Chandler each drove in two runs for the Red Storm (13-2). Katie Bertelsen picked up the win in the circle with a complete game two hitter and eight strikeouts.
Farmington held Monmouth-Roseville to four hits in an 11-0 victory by the Farmers
Lewistown beat Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon 11-1
Annawan-Wethersfield won a slugfest against West Central 16-11
High School Girls Soccer
Moline shut out Galesburg 5-0. Sarah Katchen had 14 saves in goal for the Silver Streaks (4-7-1). The Maroons won the junior varsity contest 3-2. |
