| Scots' Williams Earns First Conference Award |
Monmouth College freshman pitcher Kelsey Williams had a week most pitchers only dream of and was named the Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week for softball.
Williams, a biology major from Ottawa, was an animal in the circle and didn't give an earned run in two games last week.
Williams fanned five, walked one and scattered six hits in Monmouth's conference tournament berth-clinching 8-0 win over Grinnell on Saturday, a game shortened by the mercy rule. She took a hard-luck loss in extra innings Tuesday as the Scots fell to Greenville 1-0. Williams went 7.2 innings, surrendering only one unearned run in the contest.
For the week, Williams recorded a 0.00 ERA in 13.2 innings with eight strikeouts and one walk.
