| UCONN & Stanford to Play for NCAA Women's Championship |
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) -- Maya Moore had 34 points and 12 rebounds to help Connecticut beat Baylor and freshman phenom Brittney Griner 70-50 for its 77th straight win.
That leaves the Huskies one victory from becoming the first women's basketball team to go undefeated in consecutive seasons. Tina Charles added 21 points for 38-and-0 UConn, which will play Stanford in the championship game Tuesday night. The Cardinal beat Oklahoma 73-66 in the first semifinal. The Huskies beat Stanford 80-68 when the teams met Dec. 23 in Hartford. That's the closest any team has come to the Huskies, who've won every game during their streak by double digits. Griner, Baylor's sensational 6-foot-8 freshman, finished with 13 points and five blocks. Stanford handed UConn its last loss, back in the 2008 national semifinals.
