High School Baseball

Galesburg lost its second game in Florida. Willoughby (Ohio) South beat the Silver Streaks (3-6) 5-2. Galesburg wraps up its trip Wednesday with a game against a team from Georgia (Alpharetta, Ga. St. Francis). The GHS sophomore team lost its first game of the season, 13-6 against Limestone. The Streaks gave up 17 hits in the game and are now 9-1 on the season.

Abingdon split a doubleheader with Havana. The Ducks won the first game 10-1. The Commandos, behind a one-hitter from Jesse Hines, won the second game 2-1. Hines struck out nine to earn his second victory without a loss.

ROWVA blew out Annawan-Wethersfield 17-6 in five innings

South Fulton swept Knoxville in a twinbill 9-2 and 10-4

North Fulton had just three hits but made them count in a 3-1 win against United

Orion took advantage of five errors by Monmouth-Roseville and beat the Titans 10-7

Galva-Williamsfield defeated Princeville 13-3 in five innings

Brimfield-Elmwood swept a doubleheader against Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon 13-4 and 11-4

Lewistown won both games of a twinbill against Peoria Heights 4-2 and 7-2

West Central scored seven second inning runs and beat Stark County 16-3

Canton got past PORTA 4-3

Hall beat Kewanee 7-5


High School Softball

Galesburg has earned a significant accomplishment already this season. The Silver Streaks (5-3) defeated Monmouth-Roseville 4-1 for the team's 5th win. Galesburg had five total wins last season (5-28). Jessica Davison went the distance in the circle and allowed just two hits while striking out five for GHS. Jordan Marshall supported Davison at the plate with two hits and two RBIs and Sam Mason added two hits. Galesburg's junior varsity team also beat the Titans 8-6 to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Rowva defeated Annawan-Wethersfield 9-1

Knoxville downed Kewanee 6-3

South Fulton scored two late runs to beat Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon 6-5

Stark County downed West Central 8-5

Brimfield-Elmwood allowed just one hit in a 4-0 win over Illini Bluffs

Farmington scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and beat Dee-Mack 5-4

East Peoria scored in the bottom of the eighth inning and beat Canton 3-2


High School Track and Field

United's girls team won a triangular meet hosted by ROWVA. The Red Storm picked up 86 points to earn the victory. ROWVA finished second with 44 points and Stark County was third - just one point behind the host school.

Monmouth-Roseville's boys team won the Monmouth-Roseville Quad. The Titans held off second-place ROWVA by three points (89-86). United (69 points) finished third and Stark County (18 points) placed fourth


Local College Softball

Illinois Valley shut out Carl Sandburg College twice in Oglesby. The Chargers managed just four hits and lost the first game 10-0. Illinois Valley no-hit CSC in an 8-0 victory in the finale.

Local College Men's Golf

Carl Sandburg College won an Arrowhead Conference five-team meet by five strokes (298) over Blackhawk (303) at Lake Bracken Country Club.

Highland Community College finished third, followed by Illinois Valley and Sauk Valley.

CSC's Andrew Ledford was the medalist. He shot a 1-under 70. Jordan Lieber carded a 73 for the Chargers and Chris Neal shot a 76.

The next scheduled conference meet for CSC is April 13th in LaSalle.
