| Monmouth College's Higgins Sets Record; Wins Conference Award |
Monmouth College javelin thrower Dan Higgins hit two milestones last weekend and was rewarded with the Midwest Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week honor.
Competing at the 25-team Washington Invitational, Higgins won the javelin by more than 30' with a throw of 208'7". The mark automatically qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he is currently ranked third and he leads the conference rankings by more than 30'.
Higgins' throw also set the new school record by 3'. The previous record had stood for more than 25 years and was set by current Fighting Scots coach Roger Haynes.
Higgins is a senior physical education major.
