| Masterful Mickelson Wins Third Green Jacket |
AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Phil Mickelson is wearing the green jacket again. The go-for-broke lefty earned his third Masters championship by firing a final-round 5-under 67 to capture the first major of the season by three shots over Britisher Lee Westwood. Anthony Kim finished third, four shots behind Mickelson. Mickelson is always a fan favorite and now was the sentimental pick with his wife and his mother both battling breast cancer. Mickelson rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt at the signature 12th hole. He then managed a stunning shot off the pine straw and around a tree to set up another birdie at the next hole. Lefty wrapped it up with yet another birdie at the 18th. Mickelson joined a select list of golfers who have won the Masters at least three times. Mickelson also won in 2004 and 2006. Mickelson joins Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods as those who have won the Masters at least three times. Woods shot a final-round 69 but had difficulty with his short game at times. The world's No. 1-ranked golfer tied for fourth with K.J. Choi in his first competitive golf in nearly five months following his sex scandal that rocked the world.
