| Shot NIU Football Player Released From Hospital |
DeKALB, Ill. (AP) -- A Northern Illinois linebacker who was wounded in a drive-by shooting earlier this month has been released from the hospital.
Hospital officials say Devon Butler was released from OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford last night.
Huskies coach Dave Doeren tells the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb that Butler has a lot of rehabilitation work to do.
Butler was wounded in a drive-by shooting while off campus on April 5. Authorities say a gunman in an SUV fired into the apartment building where Butler was visiting with friends.
A judge has set bond at $1 million each for two NIU students accused in the shooting. Butler is a junior from Pembroke Pines, Fla. He was in on 80 tackles _ second on the team _ and had 4 1/2 sacks.
