Local Sports Roundup 4/23/11

The Silver Streaks doubleheader with Moline for Saturday has been moved to a 2pm start, and will be played on the GHS Sophomore Field instead of Sundberg Field, due to wet conditions at Sundberg Field. There's still a possibility it won't be played at all.

GHS Invitational Saturday at the Art Fish Tennis Courts. The Courts will be dedicated in Fish's honor starting at 8:30am, followed by the tournament. Fish was a longtime teacher and coach in the Galesburg School District.

The Knox College men's golf team is tied for second place after the first round of the Scot-Fire Invitational Friday at Soangetaha Country Club. The Prairie Fire shot a 1-over par nine-hole score of 145, five strokes behind first round leader Millikin University (-1, 140). Knox shares second in the team standings with Black Hawk Community College. The first round was limited to nine holes because of wet playing conditions on the golf course. Round two of the tournament continues Saturday at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth.
