| After Hiatus, Chicago Women's Soccer Has New League |
LISLE, Ill. (AP) -- The Chicago Red Stars women's soccer team is back with a new home.
The team announced Monday that it's joining the Women's Premier Soccer League for the upcoming season. The league has more than 60 teams and five conferences. The Red Stars was a member of the Women's Professional Soccer league in 2009 and 2010.
Team officials said in December that operations would be suspended because of lack of capital and to shore up reserves. The team says it soon will announce its full schedule and roster, but home games are already set for July 2 and 10.
The Red Stars will play home games at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University sports complex west of Chicago. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
