The Galesburg Silver Streaks won their own invitational Saturday, defeating Rock Island Alleman 7-3. Chad Johnson scored 2 of the Streaks' runs, with Nick Milligan, Brock Bush, Chris Fields, Logan Scott, and Andrew Steck each scoring once. Austin Gernant scored the victory for the Streaks, giving them 4-0 in the tournament.

The GHS Sophomores lost game 1 of a double-header to Canton 3-2, but came back in game 2 and dominated 16-6. Four Streaks players scored home runs in the winning effort. They'll next play Limestone at home Tuesday.


The Galesburg Silver Streaks lost both games of a double-header with Peoria Richwoods Saturday, 12-3 and 12-1. They'll next play Tuesday at Monmouth-Roseville. The J/V Squad won both games of their double-header with Richwoods, 15-12, and 16-15.

Katie Bertelsen gave up 1 earned run but struck out 18 en route to the United Red Storm's 8-1 victory over Stark County Saturday in game one of a doubleheader. Megan Patterson and Kelsey Crain both hit home runs for the Red Story, with most of their runs coming in the 6th inning. Bertelsen pitched another 7 innings in the second game, giving up only 3 hits and striking out 9 after the Red Storm again beat the Lady Rebels 2-0. The Red Storm scored both of their runs in the first inning.


The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys tennis team placed third at the Rock Island Invitational Saturday. Brandon Meeker was a singles champion in one division and is now 4-0 on the season, while Evan Melhus was the runner-up in another singles division. Ben Whittle and Tom Heartlein placed third in one doubles division, while Noel Puthenveetil and Nathan Fitch placed fifth in division two. Chris Willis and Seth Herr placed 6th in a 3rd doubles division. The Streaks' next meet is Wednesday at home. Warren was first at the tournament, while the host Rocks were dead last.


Galesburg's Girls Soccer team dominated Canton Saturday 9-0. The Streaks didn't score a goal until the 19th minute of the first half, but from there, the scoring began. Galesburg dominated shots on goal, 34-0. The GHS J/V Squad also beat Canton, 6-0.


The Carl Sandburg College baseball team swept Highland at home on Saturday. The Chargers won game 1 6-0 and game 2 7-6.

Grinnell College swept a Midwest Conference doubleheader Saturday at Knox College. The Pioneers won the first game 17-3 and took the second 21-3.


Monmouth College won both games of a double-header with Illinois College Saturday, 7-2 and 12-2.

Carl Sandburg College lost the first game of a double-header with Illinois Valley Saturday 6-3, but won game two 4-0.
