|High School Schedule
Area athletes will take advantage of an opportunity to get their scheduled games played today, in advance of more rain that's expected tonight and tomorrow. Temperatures should be the warmest of the week today, and at Galesburg High School, the Silver Streaks baseball team will host Ridgewood. The softball squad was to have welcomed East Peoria, but due to a scheduling conflict, that game has been cancelled. The GHS girls track team will see competition this afternoon, as they run with Moline at the Geneseo triangular.
Elsewhere in the area today, in baseball, ROWVA plays at Abingdon. In softball, Knoxville hosts Ridgewood and Monmouth-Roseville travels to Orion. And in track and field, a number of area boys and girls teams will be participating in the United Relays and the Elmwood-Brimfield Invitational.
The Knox Prairie Fire baseball team continued it's pursuit of a Midwest Conference playoff berth with a pair of doubleheader sweeps over the weekend. After defeating Monmouth College in a pair of one-run games in Galesburg on Saturday, the Fire went to Monmouth yesterday and smashed the Fighting Scots by scores of 10-2 and 18-7. Former Silver Streak Caleb Weaver banged out a grand slam to power Knox in game 1. Next up for Knox is a non-conference matchup with Robert Morris on Wednesday.
