The Silver Streaks made the most of yesterday's matchups in the Sunshine State, as they defeated Mainland, New Jersey 6-3, and then topped Corcoran, New York 11-3. Today, the Streaks are playing Bullitt East High School from Kentucky. Galesburg entered the game with a mark of 8-3.
Other baseball games on the area schedule today include:
West Central at ROWVA
United at Ridgewood
Galva/Williamsfield at Princeville
In softball action, the Galesburg girls will make the short trip to Monmouth to play the M-R Titans.
And on the track and field schedule for today, the ROWVA and United boys will run at the Monmouth-Roseville Quad meet, while the ROWVA girls will host United.
Knox College baseball player Erik Smoy has been named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week. Smoy, a junior outfielder for the Prairie Fire, got 7 hits in 10 at bats to help power Knox to a doubleheader sweep over Beloit on Saturday. Knox has won three straight, and will host Grinnell Thursday afternoon.
The Monmouth College baseball game that was scheduled for this afternoon at Robert Morris in Springfield was postponed to tomorrow due to poor field conditions.
