Illini Plays Spring Game
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois junior running back Donovonn Young rushed for 86 yards in leading the Blue team to a 35-28 win over the Orange during an intra-squad game at Memorial Stadium.

The Illini's spring game late Friday allowed new offensive coordinator Bill Cubit showcased his evolving system.

Young scored three touchdowns in a system that favored his bulky physique.

Quarterback Nathan Scheelhasse contributed 210 yards and one touchdown and wide receiver Ryan Lankford had 77 yards and one touchdown for the Blue team.

Running back Dami Ayoola rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and quarterback Reilly O'Toole scored the other two for the Orange.

The recorded attendance was 2,100 on the windy, 40-degree evening, with the majority of fans leaving after halftime.
