|Trio from Monmouth College Named All-MWC
|Three Monmouth College softball players were named to the All-Midwest Conference team after a vote of the league's coaches.
The Fighting Scots, who qualified for the conference tournament for the third consecutive year, placed sophomores Lauren Bergrstresser and Morgan Seiler and freshman Kelsey Williams on the all-conference team. Bergstresser and Seiler are repeat all-conference performers after being named to the squad as freshmen. MWC coaches limited selection to just 13 players for 2010.
Berstresser, a catcher, hit .325 with a .407 slugging percentage while leading the Scots with 14 stolen bases and 25 runs scored.
Seiler, a slugging shortstop, hit a team-high four home runs while batting .387. She drove in a team-high 28 runs and scored 23 times.
Williams, a rookie pitcher, led the Scots with six wins. She also was tops on the team with 94 innings pitched and struck out a team-high 67 batters, which ranks her in the season's top 10 all-time. Williams also led the team with three shutouts and picked up a pair of saves.
The Scots ended the season with a third-place finish in the league tournament. It was Monmouth's highest finish since the 2003 squad placed second.
