Local Sports Roundup -- 5/13/10
Rain washed out virtually all of the local sports schedule for a third straight day on Thursday, leaving athletic directors scrambling to either cancel games altogether or find a rare remaining open date to make up games as the regular season winds down.

High School Boys Track and Field

Monmouth-Roseville finished fourth in the Olympic Conference meet. Farmington finished first, followed by Sherrard and Macomb. Knoxville placed sixth at the meet.

High School Boys Tennis

Galesburg easily beat Rock Island 8-1. Brandon Meeker, Calvin Shipplett, Tyler Bond and Caleb Thompson each won their singles and doubles matches to contribute to the Silver Streaks' Western Big Six victory.

College Sports

One of Monmouth-Roseville High School's top boys basketball players last season is continuing his career on the hardwood at a local college.

Carl Sandburg College men's basketball head coach Ryan Twaddle says Markus Hunter has signed to play for the Chargers next season.

Hunter, a guard for the Titans, averaged 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals per game during his senior season.
