| Former Villa Grove Coach Takes Football Reigns at West Central |
A former assistant football coach in western Illinois who moved north before taking a break is the new head coach at West Central.
West Central athletic director Jay Blender says Roger Kerfoot was hired at the March 19 school board meeting.
Kerfoot coached at Villa Grove from 1999-2001and Camp Point Central during the 2003 season.
Blender says Kerfoot also served as an assistant coach for coach Tim Lafferty at LaHarpe.
The Heat coaching job became vacant when Steve Arnold was let go after three seasons at the helm. Arnold's teams won just two games during that span. Last season's squad went 0-9.
Kerfoot hasn't been on the sidelines for a while. "He (Kerfoot) has been out of coaching for the last couple of years and decided he wanted to get back into teaching and coaching," Blender said. |
