IHSA Releases Class 1A & 2A Softball and Baseball Regional Pairings
FIRST REPORTED 11:50 a-m 5/3/10 Eight softball and baseball teams from the region have secured top seeds in their regionals, which begin two weeks from Monday.

Top seeded softball teams in Class 1A include United, Orion and Stark County. Farmington earned a top seed in Class 2A.

United's first regional game is May 18th against either West Central or West Prairie in the Sciota West Prairie Regional. Orion is the top seed in the ROWVA Regional at Oneida. The Chargers will play on May 18th against the winner of the Annawan-Wethersfield and Galva game that will be played at Galva on May 17th. Stark County is in the Granville Putnam County Regional. The #1 seeded Rebels will play May 18th against the winner of the game on the 17th between Putnam County and Lowpoint-Washburn.

Those regionals feed into the Knoxville Sectional, which begins May 26th with the winners of the Tremont and Putnam County regionals playing at 4:30 followed by the winners of the Oneida and Sciota Regionals squaring off at 7:00. The sectional championship game at Knoxville is May 29th at 11 a-m.

Farmington got the top seed in the Class 2A Brimfield Regional. The Farmers play May 18th against the winner of the opening game between Peoria Manual and Kewanee. The Beardstown, Carthage and Aledo Regionals also feed into the Farmington Sectional that begins May 26th.

The top-seeded baseball teams from the area are ROWVA, North Fulton, and Orion in Class 1A and Brimfield-Elmwood in 2A.

North Fulton is in its own regional, which begins May 17th. The Wildcats play May 18th against the winner of the opening game on May 17th between Lewistown and Bushnell/Prairie City/Avon. ROWVA is the #1 seed in the West Central Regional. The Tigers play May 18th against the winner of the West Central/Ridgewood game on May 17th. Orion is the top seed in the Kewanee-Wethersfield Regional. The Chargers play May 18th against the winner of the Stark County/Princeville game on May 17th.

The regional winners advance to the Illinois Wesleyan Bloomington Sectional or the Jacksonville Routt Sectional.

Brimfield-Elmwood is in the Farmington Regional and will play May 18th against Farmington or Peoria Manual. Those two teams open the regional on May 17th. The regional winners advance Chillicothe IVC Sectional.
