High School Baseball Regionals

>Class 1A:

Annawan-Wethersfield beat Galva-WIlliamsfield 3-2 Friday in the semifinal round of the Kewanee Wethersfield Regional. The Titans move on to Saturday afternoon's regional championship game against Princeville at 1:00.

>Class 2A:

Monmouth-Roseville's semifinal game against Rockridge at Taylor Ridge scheduled for Friday was postponed. The teams will play Saturday at 1:00. The winner advances to Monday's regional championship game against Macomb.

Canton and Midwest Central play their semifinal game in the Farmington regional today at 11:00 after it was postponed Thursday. The winner advances to Monday's regional championship game against Brimfield-Elmwood.

**Class 1A regional championship games are scheduled at Cuba (11:00) and Biggsville (10:00) Saturday

Streaks Classic Baseball Tournament

Galesburg was a 6-3 winner Friday night against East Aurora. The Silver Streaks play twice on Saturday: at 5:45 against Sterling and at 7:30 against Peoria Notre Dame. Saturday's games, all to be played on the varsity field, resume at 9:00 Saturday morning when Dunlap plays Springfield Southeast.

High School Softball Regionals

>Class 1A:

Championship games are scheduled Saturday at Carl Sandburg College (Sciota Regional championship game), Oneida and Granville. Friday's Tremont Regional semifinal game between Princeville and Tremont was postponed until Saturday at 4:00. The regional championship game at Tremont will be played Monday afternoon.

>Class 2A:

Canton shut out Macomb 2-0 Friday in the Beardstown Regional semifinal round. The Lady Giants advance to Saturday's regional title game against Beardstown at 11:00.

The Brimfield Regional championship game between Farmington and Brimfield-Elmwood is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00. The Aledo Regional semifinal game Friday between Rock Island Alleman and Rockridge was postponed until Saturday at 11:00. The winner advances to Monday afternoon's championship game against Sherrard.

The start time for Saturday's Galesburg High School softball game at Metamora has been moved back to 11:00 from the original 10:00 scheduled start.

High School Track and Field


Galesburg High School won the Class 2A Rock Island Sectional. The Streaks had 121 total points. Rock Island was a distant second with 93 points and Peoria Richwoods placed third with 77 points. Galesburg qualified for state in 13 of the 18 events. The sectional title is Galesburg's first since 1999 and third overall - the first one in 1972.

Rock Island Alleman won the Class 1A Farmington Sectional. Farmington was second, Elmwood third, Sherrard fourth and Knoxville fifth. Knoxville and West Central qualified four events for the 1A state tournament in Charleston. ROWVA qualified two events - both of them relays - for the state meet and United will be represented in the high jump.

Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon-West Prairie will have six events representing the team at the Class 1A state meet after Friday's Class 1A Macomb Sectional. Illini West won the sectional - followed by Macomb, Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon-West Prairie, Jacksonville Routt and Rushville-Industry.


Galesburg High School qualified five events for the state finals at the Class 2A state meet preliminaries in Charleston. The Streaks had 12 events entered at the state meet.

Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon-West Prairie's Kendra Pierce qualified for three events: the 100, 200 and 400-meter runs. Monmouth-Roseville's 4x800 meter relay team is also vying for a medal on Saturday.

High School Boys Tennis - Sectionals

Galesburg's Brandon Meeker advanced to Saturday's semifinal round by winning two matches on Friday. As a semifinalist, Meeker also qualified for the state tournament. The final two rounds of the sectional begin at 9:00 Saturday morning at Galesburg High School.
