GHS got a Streaks Classic victory over Sterling Saturday 11-10, which marked the first Varsity win, and first Varsity appearance, for Sophomore pitcher Luke Ryan. The final in the Streaks game versus Peoria Notre Dame wasn't available, as it is believed to have ended well past midnight. Other results from the tournament aren't available.

Dillon Foes scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th Inning to get the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans a 6-5 victory over Princeville in their own Regional Championship game Saturday. Jake DeJager is credited with the win.


ROWVA won the Biggsville Regional title by defeating United 10-1, claiming its second regional crown in three years.


The GHS varsity Streaks (11-20) go into Regional play Tuesday with a pair of losses Saturday. Galesburg was shut out by Metamora 3-0 and by Sterling 10-0.

The GHS J/V Squad finished its season at an even .500 (16-16), after losing its final two games Saturday. The Streaks lost to Metamora 10-0 and to Sterling 13-1.

ROWVA lost in the championship in its own Regional to Orion, 5-1. A three-fun second inning led Orion to victory, while ROWVA scored its only run in the first inning, while Grace Cleair was saddled with the loss. Kelly Hutton was the winning pitcher. The Tigers end their season with a 12-20 record.


Moline won the title at the Galesburg-hosted IHSA Boys Tennis Sectional and goes on to State. Streaks star Brandon Meeker will also advance to State, placing third. The top four singles and doubles competitors advance to State. Galesburg placed 5th in the nine-team sectional tournament.


Galesburg (7-9-1) lost to Dunlap 2-0 Saturday in the IHSA Class 2A Soccer Regional Championship at Galesburg. Goals in the 5th and 60th minutes got Dunlap (9-12-2) the victory.


Galesburg's Girls Track Team finished 15th at the IHSA Class 2A Meet at Eastern Illinois University. The 4X200 Meter Relay team of Cierra Latta, Sharron Diggins, Rainee Sibley, and Bailey Jackson finished third with a time of 1:43.36. Amy Blucker placed fourth in the Shot Put, Diggins placed 8th in Discus, Stephanie Saey medaled by placing ninth in the 3200 Meter Run, and the 4X800 Meter Relay team placed 11th. Springfield Southeast was the State Champion.

Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon placed 7th, and Annawan-Wethersfield tied for 9th in the Class 1A State Meet in Charleston. Byron was the State Champion. Among local competitors, the Monmouth-Roseville 4X800 Meter Relay Team of Ciara Marlow, Marcela Gillen, Megan Byrne, and Rebecca Gillen placed Third, while Elmwood-Brimfield and Annawan-Wethersfield placed 7th and 8th in that event. Miranda Biddle of Mercer County placed 15th in the 3200 Meter Run. Kendra Pierce of B-PC/A placed 2nd, and Annawan-Wethersfield's Erica Dynes placed third in the 100 Meter Dash. Pierce placed 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash and 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash. A-W's Sara Fisher placed 4th in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Canton's Lydia Smith placed 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run. A-W placed 6th in the 4X400 Meter Relay.

In Class 3A, Hinsdale Central was the Champion.


Lewistown placed 4th at their own IHSA Boys Track Sectional Friday.
