|Tracy Has No Regrets About Ill-Fated Indy Attempt
|INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- IndyCar driver Paul Tracy says he'd rather go down swinging than play it safe.
Tracy had a spot in this year's Indy 500 then lost it when his final qualifying run last Sunday wasn't fast enough to make the 33-car field.
He had posted a time fast enough to make the race earlier in the day, but his KV Racing Technology team opted to throw the time out in hopes of qualifying higher with a faster run. Instead Tracy's car struggled around the 2.5-mile oval, leaving him on the outside of the race looking in.
The outspoken Canadian said Friday he doesn't regret the decision, but admitted it will be difficult to watch Sunday's race.
Tracy will drive two road races in Canada this summer. He also plans to return to Indy next May.
