Bettman Says NHL Franchise Situation is Stable
CHICAGO (AP) -- NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says the league's franchise situation is stable, and that the "market is not flooded with teams" for sale.

Bettman said Friday that the NHL is "not now dealing with any franchise going out of business or moving" and that he hopes such speculation will stop. Bettman says recent reports that owners of the New York Islanders and Los Angeles Kings are looking to unload their teams are untrue.

The commissioner says he expects the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to take place this summer, a deal that will keep the financially troubled team in Arizona.

Bettman confirmed that an offer was made for the Coyotes by a group in Winnipeg, where the franchise was once located.
