| Soriano Homers, Cubs Rally Past Diamondbacks |
CHICAGO (AP) -- Alfonso Soriano homered, Derrek Lee delivered the go-ahead two-run single and the Chicago Cubs rallied from three down to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5 on Saturday.
Soriano's two-run shot off former Cub Bob Howry in the seventh tied it at 5, and Lee gave the Cubs a 7-5 lead with a two-run bases-loaded single in the eighth off Juan Gutierrez (0-3).
That made a winner of Sean Marshall (1-1), who pitched two scoreless innings. Carlos Marmol walked Cole Gillespie leading off the ninth, allowed a one-out single by Justin Upton and walked Mark Reynolds -- who hit two solo homers -- to load the bases.
Adam LaRoche then struck out, giving Marmol his fourth save in five chances. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
