| Cubs Activate Caridad, Send Grabow for MRI |
CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Chicago Cubs activated right-handed reliever Esmailin Caridad off the 15-day disabled list in time for the second game of their series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Caridad has been sidelined since April 12 by a strained right forearm.
The Cubs optioned Jeff Gray to Triple-A Iowa to open a roster spot Saturday. Gray was called up when Caridad went on the disabled list and was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA.
The Cubs also sent struggling left-handed reliever John Grabow to Chicago for a precautionary MRI exam on his left knee. No problem was found.
Manager Lou Piniella said Grabow has complained of trouble pushing push off the rubber because of the sore knee and will get a couple days of rest. Grabow is 0-2 with a 9.26 ERA. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
