High School Softball
Washington 15, Galesburg 6
The visiting Panthers banged out 14 hits to beat the Silver Streaks in non-conference play.
Amber Fields had both of Galesburg's hits and drove in two runs. GHS hitters were walked 10 times. Katie VanHootegem and Chelsey Wiegand received three bases on balls apiece and combined to score four runs.
Jessica Davison (9-14) took the loss after giving up 12 runs and 13 hits in five innings. She struck out seven and walked three. Galesburg's record dropped to 9-17 on the season ahead of the next game Friday at Mercer County.
Galva 8, Williamsfield 6
The Wildcats held off a furious rally by the Bombers to come away with the non-conference victory.
Galva led 8-2 before Williamsfield scored four runs in the seventh inning, three on a triple by Tera Adams. The game ended on an out at the plate with two runners on base for the Bombers.
Emily Newell and Tierney Weaver each contributed two hits and an RBI. Rachel Moore suffered the loss. She surrendered three earned runs and three hits with one strike out and three walks in one inning pitched.
Galva wrapped out eight hits in the game.

The boys and girls Prairieland Conference meets were postponed Monday. They'll be held Tuesday, weather permitting, at Bushnell-Prairie City High School. |
