|Players call NFL "A Cartel" in Court Filing
|MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- NFL players who sued the league for alleged antitrust violations liken the league to a "cartel" in their latest court filing, again urging an appeals court to lift the lockout.
In a late-night filing Friday in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, attorneys for the players say the league is engaging in unlawful conduct to force the players to re-unionize against their will and make immense financial concessions.
A federal judge in Minnesota agreed with the players and lifted the lockout last month, but the league appealed.
The appeals court ruled Monday the lockout can stay in place until the court hears a full appeal on whether it is legal. The players' latest filing outlines their arguments why the lockout should end.
A hearing is set for June 3.
