U of IL Hires Firm to Help with Search for AD
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The University of Illinois has hired a consulting firm to help it find a replacement for retiring Athletic Director Ron Guenther.

The university signed a contract with Parker Executive Search on Wednesday. The company has experience in similar sports-related searches at other universities.

Larry DeBrock is dean of the university's School of Business and head of the on-campus committee looking for a new athletic director. He told The News-Gazette newspaper in Champaign that the university initially planned to do all its own search work but President Michael Hogan decided this week to add outside help.

The university plans to have a new athletic director by the time Guenther retires on July 1.
Guenther said earlier this month he'll retire after 19 years on the job.
