| Quad City Mallards Suspend Operations |
MOLINE, Ill. (AP) -- There will be no more Quad City Mallard hockey.
The team announced Wednesday that it has suspended operations effective immediately. The Mallards played in the "AA" Central Hockey League.
Mallards president Chris Presson says in a statement that this was the team's "proper decision given the uncertainty in the landscape of the industry." Presson says the team has worked "extremely hard" to make the Mallards successful.
Team officials say Mallards season ticket holders will receive a full refund.
The other Illinois team in the league is the Bloomington PrairieThunder.
