| Cubs' Soto Has Torn Meniscus |
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto has a torn meniscus in his left knee and will be re-evaluated to see if he needs to go on the disabled list.
Soto is off to a slow start, batting .161 with three homers and six RBIs this season. The 29-year-old catcher hit .228 with 17 homers and 54 RBIs for Chicago last season.
Wellington Castillo started for Soto on Thursday and will now be the No. 1 catcher. Manager Dale Sveum said second baseman Darwin Barney would be the team's emergency backup catcher for Friday's game against the White Sox. (Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
