|HIGH SCHOOL TRACK
The Galesburg High School girls track team has a number of athletes in the finals Saturday at the IHSA Class 2A state track meet. Stephanie Saey advanced in the 1600 meter run after her run Friday, and in the 3200 meter run following her qualifying last week. Myra Diggins will be competing in the Shut Put, while the 4-by-400 meter relay team of Becca Ladner, Delaney Duncan, Hanna Hawkins, and Markesha Harden advanced to the finals Saturday after preliminaries Friday.
Meantime, the GHS Boys Track team will be competing in five events at state, after competing in the Dunlap Sectional Friday. DeAndre Law will be competing in the 4-by-800 meter relay, the 400-meter dash, and the 4-by-400 meter relay. Grant Boydstun, Beau Salsman, and Andrew Welch will be with Law in the 4-by-8. Travon Diggins and DeMario Walker will be joining Law and Salsman in the 4-by-4, while Diggins will be competing in the Long Jump, and the 300 meter hurdles.
Monmouth-Roseville, ROWVA, and Knoxville will all have athletes competing at State next week after performances in the Rockridge Sectional Friday. Monmouth-Roseville was also the Sectional Champion.
HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
Galesburg's tournament run in soccer is over, as Dunlap shut out the Streaks at the Galesburg regional Friday 6-0.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
The Galesburg Silver Streaks baseball team split their games at the Streaks Classic Friday, defeating East Peoria 9-2, and losing to Dunlap 12-11. That tournament continues Saturday.
Regionals in Class 1A and 2A continue Saturday in both baseball and softball.
