CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Former Western Michigan assistant coach Tim Knox has been hired as director of football operations at Illinois.
Illini head coach Tim Beckman in a news release Monday called Knox a great fit for a position that requires strong organizations skills.
The director of football operations handles the logistics of team travel, summer camps, preseason training camp in Rantoul and community service.
Knox has been an assistant at Western Michigan for 15 years. He started as a graduate assistant and was later running backs coach and then director of football operations.
