The Silver Streaks baseball team is embarking on what they hope will be a long postseason run, as they open class 3A Regional play Wednesday afternoon against Peoria Richwoods. Galesburg defeated the Knights by the "mercy rule" in the teams' first two meetings, but lost the most recent matchup Also Wednesday, Dunlap plays Peoria Notre Dame in the other semifinal at Sundburg Field.

The Galesburg softball team is turning in uniforms Wednesday, after their season ended Tuesday night with a 5-3 loss to United Township at the Rock Island Regional. The Streaks played well in defeat, giving the top-seeded Panthers a good game that included two home runs by the Streak's Jordan Marshall. Galesburg finished the season with a mark of 7 and 25.

The Class 1A Abingdon Sectional softball tournament features an outstanding pitching matchup in game 1 Wednesday, as the Commandos will have Beep Jones in the circle against Whitney Freeman of North Fulton. The Wildcats handed the Commandos their first loss of the season back in April.

The Abingdon baseball team is also in sectional action Wednesday, as they battle Annawan/Wethersfield at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
