The Galesburg Silver Streaks baseball team claimed a share of the Western Big 6 championship yesterday with a pair of wins over United Township, and a loss by Alleman at Quincy. The Streaks posted 6-3 and 10-2 victories over the Panthers, led by the pitching of Carson Cheeseman and Peyton Isaacson. Meanwhile in Quincy, the hosts rallied to defeat the Alleman Pioneers in the backend of a doubleheader 7-6, allowing the Silver Streaks to tie for the conference title with a league mark of 8-2. Galesburg is now 21-6 for the season, and is scheduled to play at Rock Island tomorrow, although the weather forecast is not favorable.

On the area baseball schedule for today, Monmouth-Roseville plays United; Abingdon travels to West Prairie; and Knoxville is in Kewanee.

The GHS softball team will be trying to erase the memory of a bad start to the week as they play at West Central this afternoon. The Streak's girls have lost 3 straight, and today will face an opponent that has a record of 25-1 for the season.

Elsewhere in softball action, ROWVA plays at North Fulton; United travels to Stark County; and Abingdon visits Brimfield.

The Galesburg girls soccer team has seen some tough competition lately, including Quincy on Monday when they lost 6-0. The Streaks are hoping to turn things around this evening as they host Rock Island, with the varsity match starting at 6:30 at the YMCA field.

College Baseball

The Carl Sandburg Chargers baseball team is off until Saturday, when they will play at Elgin at 9am to begin round robin play, as the Region 4 tournament continues. Sandburg qualified for the sectional by thumping Illinois Valley 11-3 yesterday.
