| Streaks' McCrery Named Bednar Award Winner |
POSTED 11:48 a-m 6/16/10 A slugging shortstop for Galesburg High School is the latest winner of a prestigious athletic honor handed out by the school.
The GHS Athletic Department says junior Zach McCrery was voted by his teammates this year's Bednar Award winner. The award, named after legendary Streaks coach Chuck Bednar, is given to the baseball team's most valuable player.
McCrery led Galesburg offensively throughout the season and earned All-Western Big Six honors. He also helped the Streaks reach the Elite Eight for the first time since 1989 and win 26 games. |
