|Cubs' Ramirez to Rehab with Chiefs Saturday & Sunday in Peoria
|POSTED 10:42 a.m. 6/18/10 Chicago Cub fans from the area have a chance to see one of the key players on the team play a couple of games this weekend in Peoria.
The Cubs and the Chiefs say injured Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez will rehab with the Chiefs during Saturday night's and Sunday afternoon's games at O'Brien Field against Quad Cities. Saturday night's game is at 6:30 and Sunday's is at 1:00.
Ramirez has been on the disabled list since June 10 with a left thumb contusion. He struggled badly in his 47 games for the Cubs this season. He's hitting just .168 with five home runs and 22 RBIs. Ramirez last played on June 7, when he pinch-hit at Pittsburgh.
The Cubs need Ramirez to get back to his usual hitting form. He battled through injuries last season but still wound up with a .317 average, hit 15 homers and drove in 65 runs in just 82 games. Ramirez rehabbed with the Chiefs for three games last July 3-5, going 3-for-6 at the plate with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
Ramirez is the second Cubs player to rehab with the Chiefs this season following Ted Lilly's win over Burlington April 19 at O'Brien Field.
Tickets for the rehab games are currently on sale on the Peoria Chiefs' website www.peoriachiefs.com, by calling 1-866-MYTICKET and at the O'Brien Field Box Office.
