| Illinois to Host Arkansas State in 2011 Opener |
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) -- Arkansas State will open its 2011 football season at Illinois.
Athletic director Dean Lee announced Wednesday that the game will be played Sept. 3 of that year. It will be the third meeting between the teams. Illinois beat Arkansas State 59-7 in 2002 and 41-3 in 1999.
Arkansas State will receive an $850,000 guarantee for playing the game. The Red Wolves have announced two other nonconference games for that season, at home against Memphis and at Virginia Tech.
