| Ump Taken to Hospital During White Sox-Royals Game |
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- First base umpire Alfonso Marquez left the game between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals in the bottom of the fifth inning with what was described as symptoms of heat distress and shortness of breath.
Marquez was taken to St. Luke's Hospital to be evaluated Monday night.
The umpiring crew finished the 3-1 win by the Royals with a three-man crew as second base umpire Tim Timmons moved to first base to replace Marquez. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
