Serena Williams Advances to Wimbledon Semifinals
WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Defending champion Serena Williams has advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals, beating Li Na of China 7-5, 6-3.

The top-ranked Williams had only six unforced errors and managed to avoid a wave of upsets that knocked her sister Venus and Kim Clijsters both out of the tournament earlier Tuesday.

The first service break came in the 11th game after Li double-faulted on consecutive points, and Williams pulled away from there.

Williams hit 11 aces to increase her tournament total to 73, breaking the record of 72 she set last year. She lost only five points on her first serve.

Williams is seeking her fourth Wimbledon title and 11th Grand Slam overall.

Li, who was seeded ninth, committed 19 unforced errors and lost serve four times.
