Cobden 10 (32-4)
United 2 (30-6)

Cobden hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in a nine-run second inning and defeated the Red Storm 10-2.

The Appleknockers have now beaten the Red Storm three straight years in the state tournament, twice in the championship game and the latest win in the semifinals. Coben hit three home runs in the game off losing pitcher Katie Bertelsen, who still recorded 11 strikeouts in five innings. Amy Olson pitched the sixth inning, surrendering just one hit and striking out one.

Michelle Ravel and Bertelsen each had two hits and drove in the Red Storm's two runs. Gina Long also contributed two hits.


Lebanon 22 (35-4)

Serena 2 (20-13)

Lebanon set a tournament record for runs scored in a single game. The Greyhounds meet Cobden in the Class 1A championship after Saturday's third place game at 9:30 between United and Serena.

Alton Marquette - 0 (29-6)

Coal City advances to Saturday's championship game, which follows the third place game at 4:30 between Alton Marquette and Morrison.

Johnston City - 3 (35-3)

Morrison - 2 (19-13)

Johnston City plays Coal City for the Class 1A title.

Goreville and Elgin Westminster Christian play in the state championship following the third place game at 9:00 Saturday morning between Downs Tri-Valley and Lebanon.

Elmhurst Immaculate Conception - 4 (30-11)

Harrisburg - 7 (40-0)

Chillicothe Illinois Valley Central (IVC) - 1 (32-6)

Teutopolis and Harrisburg, teams with combined records of 70-4, square off in the Class 2A championship game after the third place game between IVC and Elmhurst Immaculate Conception Saturday at 3:00.
