| Chicago Celebrates Stanley Cub Win |
CHICAGO (AP) --The forecast for Chicago calls for ticker tape. The city is celebrating the Blackhawks' first Stanley Cup win since 1961 with a downtown parade Friday morning. The event is expected to draw thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people, many hoping to catch a glimpse of the team and the Cup. The Blackhawks ended their NHL championship drought with a game-winning goal in overtime against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Thursday. Fans have been gearing up for the parade, snapping up championship T-shirts, flags, pins and hats from vendors around the city. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says money for the parade is coming from sponsors, not taxpayers. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
