A pair of Galesburg High School baseball players have been named to the Illinois Class 3A Coaches All-State team. Senior pitcher Tyler Farrell and Junior catcher Chad Johnson received the honor Wednesday according to GHS Athletic Director Ralph Henning. Johnson has one more season to play at Galesburg, while Farrell was recently drafted by the New York Yankees. Farrell told WGIL Tuesday that he will be meeting with representatives of the Yankees this weekend, at which time he will consider their offer, and then decide whether to enter the farm system or go to Western Illinois University in the fall.
The Galesburg Legion baseball team is scheduled to play at Canton at 5:30 Wednesday night. Post 285 has been rained out the previous two days against Monmouth and Peoria. |
