PARIS (AP) -- Rafael Nadal's domination at the French Open continues. The five-time champion improved his career record there to 43-1 by eliminating fifth-seeded Robin Soderling, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 in quarterfinals play. Soderling is the only one to beat Nadal in the Grand Slam event and has been the runner-up the last two years. Nadal will face Andy Murray next. The fourth-seed reached the semifinals at the French Open for the first time.
Maria Sharapova is back in the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in more than three years. The seventh-seed defeated Andrea Petkovic 6-love, 6-3 at the French Open. The last time she got into the final four at a Grand Slam event was in the 2008 Australian Open. Sharapova can complete a career Grand Slam with a title at Roland Garros. Sharapova will next meet China's Li Na who knocked off fourth-seed Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 6-2.
