CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks used their first draft pick to select center Mark McNeill, a power forward who played last season for Prince Albert of the Western Hockey League.
The Blackhawks selected McNeill 18th overall Friday night with their scheduled first-round selection.
Minutes later, Chicago traded restricted free-agent forward Troy Brouwer to Washington for the 26th pick, then took Phillip Danault from Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
McNeill is a 6-foot-2, 204-pound Edmonton, Alberta, native. He had 32 goals and 49 assists with Prince Albert last season.
Brouwer had 17 goals and 19 assists in 79 games for the Blackhawks in 2010-11. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
