| Fighters Lining Up for Defending Champ Pacquiao |
NEW YORK (AP) -- The hottest divisions in boxing keep heating up.
The 140- and 147-pound weight classes have a series of marquee fights scheduled that remind many in the sport of the 1980s. That's when Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns got together for a series of nine epic showdowns.
It starts later this month when Devon Alexander faces Lucas Matthysse in St. Louis. Then there's Amir Khan and Zab Judah in a unification fight, and Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. _ though not against each other, at least not yet.
Pacquiao is scheduled to face Juan Manuel Marquez, while Mayweather will return from a 16-month layoff to fight Victor Ortiz for the welterweight title. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
