A doubleheader split with Henry County last night left the Galesburg Legion baseball team with a record of 21-6 at the midway point of its summer season. Legion head coach Steve Cheeseman tells the WGIL Morning News that it's been a solid campaign for his young team so far.

With another doubleheader on tap tonight against Milan, and a schedule that has the team playing every day except Mondays, Steve said they have to utilize their full 18-man roster, which can lead to surprising scores from time-to-time.

The intensive 6-week season will culminate with the district tournament beginning July 15th in Geneseo. Steve says Legion baseball requires not only a commitment from the players, but parents as well.

The Post 285 Legion team will follow today's games with a trip to Canton tomorrow, and then returns to Jim Sundberg Field for weekend games against East Moline and Rock Island.

Football Camp

The Andy Gibbons/JFL Football Camp will be held July 8-11 for youth entering grades 1 through 6 this fall. We'll find out more about the camp tomorrow morning, as Coach Gibbons joins Terry Cavanaugh and Jim Lee on the WGIL Morning News at 8:35.
