The Galesburg Legion baseball team will play a home game tomorrow for the first time since June 19th. Post 285 has been on the road for well over a week, and will finish up it's stretch of out-of-town games this evening with a single 9-inning game at Canton. Galesburg enters the weekend with a record of 23-6, after taking a pair of games from Milan last night by scores of 5-2 and 12-8. Coach Steve Cheeseman's team will be looking to avenge some recent losses when they host East Moline tomorrow at one o'clock, and then Rock Island comes to town Sunday afternoon for a pair of games at Sundberg Field.
Early registration is underway for the Andy Gibbons/JFL football camp for area youth in grades 1 through 6. Coach Gibbons told us on the WGIL Morning News that the camp is separated into two styles for the different age groups.
The camp will teach football basics, including correct blocking and tackling techniques, as well as speed development. Cost is $32 in advance by calling camp director Kevin Crouse at 341-7282 by this Monday, July 1st. Walk up registration will be $40. All events will be held at the Knosher Bowl at Knox College July 8-11th.
