Legion baseball

The Galesburg Legion Post 285 baseball team will try to build on its unbeaten start to the summer as they play at Oneida today. Galesburg is 8-0 after the first week of play, and will have a single game this evening at 5:30 at the ROWVA High School diamond. Meanwhile, the Monmouth Legion team will go in search of its first win, traveling to Milan for another 5:30 start.

WGIL radio celebrates its' 75th anniversary tomorrow, and Galesburg historian Tom Wilson told us this morning that sports broadcasting has played a significant role in the station's popularity. Wilson said technology advances have given listeners better access to the athletes and coaches than what was available in the early days of the John Thiel basketball era.

Silver Streaks basketball and football broadcasts will continue again this fall with Brad Bennewitz and Jim Lee here on WGIL.
