Cardinals Beat Astros to Take Series
HOUSTON (AP) -- Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer and the St. Louis Cardinals ended the first half of the season with a 4-2 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday.

The Cardinals were down 2-0 before Holliday's shot to left field in the fourth inning. It was his 16th home run of the season.

Blake Hawksworth (3-5) yielded seven hits and two runs in 5 1-3 innings to get the win in his fifth major league start. He walked three and struck out two.

Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez's winning streak was snapped at three after he allowed four hits and three runs with six strikeouts.

Closer Ryan Franklin pitched a scoreless ninth for his 16th save in 17 opportunities.
