|Legion Tourney Starts Late, But Results in Win for Post 285
|The Galesburg Post 285 American Legion baseball team got a late start, but made short work of Abingdon at the District 15 Tournament Tuesday.
Galesburg ran its record to 27-4 with a 15-3 victory, in a game shortened to 7 innings by the lopsided score. The scheduled 2 o'clock start didn't happen until 6pm, due to an overnight rainshower that delayed the opening game between Quincy and Henry County. That game lasted nearly 4 hours, finally ending in the 13th inning with Quincy winning 11-10.
Oneida won the other contest played Tuesday, topping Farmington 8-6. There are four more games on the Wednesday schedule, including Galesburg vs. Oneida at 11:30.
The double-elimination tournament continues through Saturday.
