NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees paid tribute last night to team owner George Steinbrenner and P.A. announcer Bob Sheppard, each of whom died earlier this week.
Team captain Derek Jeter address the crowd during the pregame ceremony, calling the two men shining stars in the Yankee universe who left the organization in a much better place than when they first arrived.
Mariano Rivera laid red roses across home plate, and fans stood through ``Taps'' and a two minute moment of silence.
