| Rain, Hannam Dominate Day 1 of Women's All-City |
One player was dominant in the opening round of the Galesburg Women's All-City Tournament, and it wasn't one of the recent winners.
On a rainy Tuesday at Bunker Links, Gail Hannam toured the course with a 1-under-par 72, good for a 7-stroke lead over defending champion Trisha Blake and 11-time winner Cheri Hosteng.
Knoxville's 17-year-old Abby Ball and former Blue Bullet golfer Jaclyn Thompson carded opening round 80's, and are tied for fourth, 8 strokes off the lead.
Rain reportedly delayed Tuesday's start by a half hour, and play was also stopped for another hour by lightning. Wednesday's 2nd round starts at 7:30 at Soangetaha Country Club, with the leaders being the first off the tee. |
